I have lots of thoughts on money - I just don't have any money!

Money is not the root of all evil but loving money and making it your god is a problem.  I don't love money.  I want money, I need money and I think about money a lot these days.  In our society we need money.  And I am not ashamed to admit that when we start to earn money I want lots of it.  I want to be able to take care of our family and pay our bills on time and do fun family stuff.  But I also want to be able to help people by creating organizations that will help people and animals.  I'm excited that through that I will be creating more jobs.

My thoughts on money have evolved over the years.  I used to think debt and credit cards were necessary and not necessary evils, just necessary.  And I felt good having it. However life has a way of teaching you things and I know now that life is much better without debt.  We are in debt but we have not used credit cards for at least 6 years.  We have not taken out personal loans ever. We have however gotten car loans (do not have any now) and mortgage loans (don't have this anymore either).  The money we owe now is medical bills, student loans, the IRS (ugh - can you say payment plan) and family.  The family loans are the worst.  I will never ask for a loan from a family member ever again and I will never give one.  If someone needs money and I can help they can just have it.  Our money experiences have shaped my view but I also learned a lot from Dave Ramsey the "Debt is dumb, cash is king and paid off home mortgage has taken the place of the BMW as the status symbol of choice" guy.  I couldn't agree more.
